Back to School
New digital innovations happen every day & it’s imperative we keep up. Senior designer Kelly ventured back to school recently to complete a Tractor digital design course
Keeping up with advances in digital design.
Here at Sense we want our people to never stop learning. In fact, with new digital innovations happening every day, it’s imperative.
So when senior designer Kelly volunteered for the Tractor Industry Digital Design course, we were all over it. Off she skipped for the intensive 8 week course and we secretly sniggered… we knew it would be hard work!
Tractor is a specialist design school. It’s aim is “to produce the most sought-after, industry-ready designers for an ever-changing world”. The teachers are all highly respected names in digital circles and the students are passionate and eager to learn.
Kelly was particularly interested in knowing what the future might hold for UX design. But the course also covered a range of other design disciplines relevant to her role at Sense: mobile design, responsive web design and wireframe design, to rattle off a few.
With the digital world changing as quickly as Melbourne’s weather, Kelly gained valuable insights about the possibilities within the digital space.
Getting through the program wasn’t easy, mind you. “It was fairly gruelling if I’m totally honest,” says Kelly. “The ‘mini briefs’ were pretty major and we only had from Thursday to Tuesday to complete them, so it was intense. But all in all, it was a great experience.”
The program culminated in an exhibition of the students’ work, in which Kelly was awarded an honourable mention. Well done Kelly!
While Kelly has developed her professional skills, Sense reaps the benefit. It’s a true win-win. As Kelly explains; “I feel like I have a better understanding of what tomorrow might bring in terms of digital design. It’s knowledge that I can apply every day to my work, so it was time well spent.”
Indeed it was, Kelly. Sense is truly replete with digital expertise.
